RealWorld Air Combat Environment (ACE) ACE is a distributed PC-based, air combat mission rehearsal system. Comprised of one ACE Controller and one to many ACE 3D desktop training clients, ACE is a highly scalable, customizable system that includes high-fidelity electronic warfare and threat environments.
The ACE Controller acts as a virtual battlespace manager interoperating with a variety of 3D client applications. The ACE 3D Clients and Desktop Training Systems (DTS) are based on commercial game technology combined with sophisticated simulation modules and provide man in the loop & physics based models.
The ACE Simulation models in real-time:
- Communications, including real-time instructor input
- Synchronous data transfer
- Sensor (radar) data
- Weapons, including placement of pop-SAMS
- Air combat physics, including flying threat aircraft as aggressors
ACE allows the import of real-world electronic orders of battle and integrates with existing mission planning tools. ACE is a turnkey simulation application allowing for mission creation, analysis, planning & execution.
RealWorld A-10C Desktop Training System (A-10C DTS) The A-10C DTS is a PC-based simulation used as part of the recent A10-C Precision Engagement Upgrade program to emulate the cockpit configuration of the A-10C aircraft. The cockpit representation is spatially oriented to match the A-10C and includes (but is not limited to) replication of the following hardware and systems:
- Up-Front Controller (UFC)
- Armament HUD Control Panel (AHCP)
- Stick and Throttles (with full switch operability)
- Multi-function Color Displays (MFCDs)
- Control Display Unit (CDU) and Auxiliary Avionics Panel (AAP)
- Full Instrument package
- Countermeasure Management System (CMS)
- Litening II Targeting Pod
- Digital Stores Management System (DSMS)
- Tactical Awareness Display (TAD)
- Control Data Unit (CDU)
- Head Up Display (HUD)
The RealWorld A-10C DTS is currently being used to train both active duty pilots in Air Combat Command, and pilots with the Air National Guard.
RealWorld AC-130U Desktop Training Simulation Based on the RW A-10C DTS, the AC-130U DTS simulates the interface and functions of the Infra-Red (IR) Sensor Operator Station as part of the Battle Management Center of the AC-130U Gunship aircraft. The AC-130U DTS will include:
- AN/AAQ-26 Infra-Red Sensor System
- IR Sensor Operator Multi Function Display (MFD)
- IR Sensor interface and controller
- Virtual terrain, enemy Order of Battle, Buildings, and Infrastructure
- Automated flight plans and paths
